Republican state Rep. John Cabello(Machesney Park) toldWREX that he agrees with Comptroller Leslie Munger not paying state lawmakers their salaries until the states budget impasse, which is 10 months old, is resolved. Munger says that with money being tight social services should get the funds before lawmakers who make about $70,000 a year in the House.

“The one thing that isn’t like a business is that I can’t shut my doors.  I’ll be calling my mortgage company to work something out.  I think that everybody should be paid before we are.  I think that would make sure that the majority gets their act together and starts doing their jobs,” Cabello says.

Rockford Democrat state Rep. Litesa Wallace told WREX that she hopes the impasse end soon so everyone can get their checks lawmakers and social services.
